The Hundred Schools rarely argued with abstract proofs alone — they told stories. Each fable below is a compressed argument: a vivid scene plus the point it drives home.

Waiting by the Stump for a Rabbit
A farmer who once caught a rabbit that ran into a stump abandons his plow to wait for another.

自相矛盾 难一
Self-Contradiction
A seller boasts his spear pierces any shield and his shield stops any spear — and cannot answer when they meet.
